Editor’s Note

Farewell to Thee, Washington College Review!

By: Natalie Martinaitis ’25, Editor-in-Chief

It is with a heavy heart that I bid farewell to the Washington College Review. However, I know that I leave the magazine in good hands. Lucy and Grace—you are now the future, and I hope and pray that everything in the future goes well. I have learned a lot from the Review. I had a rocky start to my role as Associate Editor back in my freshman year. It was the year after COVID, and everything was little more muted then, and a little more confusing. I had never truly held an editing position before, and knew little about social media, but I learned. Now, I am a junior, and an Editor-in-Chief allowing the next generation of Washington College students to make their mark and develop the skills they need to enter the real world of editing and publishing. I hope one day that I will be a head editor in a publishing company, but only time will tell. As I look towards my senior year, I think about all the theses I have read and gather what I have learned to write my own. I also gather what I have learned about writing to apply to my future works, both essays and fiction writing (especially with my next book to be published on December 11). Good luck to all those who in the future find themselves within the Review. Trust me, the experience is worth it!

All my best,

Natalie
