Twists and twirls

Materials: cans
Brief Description: I have been interested in working with cans for a long time because how malleable and shiny they are. The cutting and twisting of each individual can places emphasis on the importance of process in my work. This piece is also always evolving as pieces untangle themselves or more twists are added.

actions

Materials: paper, acrylic paint, paint marker
Brief Description: In this piece I worked on using the art of an accomplished artist, Phyllida Barlow, to inspire my own work. Barlow’s work focused mostly on the actions behind each piece as well as problem solving as the piece goes. These are both ways in which I also find myself working. I came up with a list of actions, which included, rolling, folding, crumpling, painting, and doodling. All of which were used in the process behind this piece.

Roll

Materials: felt, paper thread, yarn, fishing wire, and a stick
Brief Description: This was my final project for this class. Over the course of the semester, I had been exposed to a variety of new art making techniques, such as wet felting, paper weaving, and paper making. My objective was to incorporate as many of those techniques as possible while maintaining consistency with the rest of my body of work.
